Finding a pen friend is a fun way to meet people, I started making pen friends via snail mail when I was in high school, however using emails to make "pen friends" is much more convenient.

Here's a definition from wikipedia.com:

"A penpal relationship is often used to practice reading and writing in a foreign language, to improve literacy, to learn more about other countries and life-styles, and to reduce loneliness. As with any friendships in life, some people remain penpals for only a short time, while others continue to exchange letters and presents life-long. Some penpals eventually arrange to meet face to face. Some pen pals even get married".

Here are some of the better penpal sites:

You may think this isn't very relevent, however I have a few good friends doing this, it usually happens out of interest in the game more than searching for a friend, and if you play games that you are interested in, then you know you have at least one thing in common (^-^).
