Sydney Jobs
Find Work in Sydney
Some advice when looking for work:
- Make your resume as up-to-date and as professional as possible.
- Get a friend to proofread it (you could also send it to Sydneyfriends).
- Make sure there are no large gaps in time between jobs.
- It's fine to have a number of resumes, with the different resumes honed to the certain job.
- Get 2 or 3 references ready, however it's fine to say "Contact for references"
- Don't apply for hundreds of jobs in the one sitting by copying and pasting an application letter.
- Because agencies will see your letters, and see that they aren't sincere.
- It's important to be careful with each application letter to make sure they are customised for each job.
- Search for work in your area of interest, don't just apply for jobs with the most pay.
- Online job sites are a great way of applying for work, however you can also try other methods such as writing to companies you are interested in and letting them know of your interest in working there.
- Be consistent! If one way doesn't work, keep trying.. and slowly modify your job search until you are successful!
